How to Export Notion Flashcards to Anki

Notion isn't a dedicated flashcard app, so there's no export button. Here's how to move toggle-list or database flashcards into Anki.

Last updated July 2026

Notion has no flashcard export feature because it isn't built as a flashcard app; people build flashcards manually with toggle lists (question in the toggle header, answer inside) or a database with Question and Answer columns. Notion's own CSV export of a database gives you exactly the two columns Anki needs. For a page built with toggle lists, you'll need to copy the pairs into a spreadsheet by hand before exporting to CSV and importing into Anki.

If Your Flashcards Are a Notion Database

  1. 1

    Open the database

Switch to table view so you can see the Question and Answer columns (or whatever you've named them) clearly.

  2. 2

    Export as CSV

Click the three-dot menu on the database → Export → Markdown & CSV. Notion generates a .csv file with your columns intact.

  3. 3

    Trim extra columns

Open the CSV in a spreadsheet and delete any columns beyond Question and Answer (tags, dates, status), or Anki's import will misalign your fields.

  4. 4

    Import into Anki

File → Import, select the CSV, map Question to Front and Answer to Back, choose Basic or Cloze, pick your deck, and click Import.

If Your Flashcards Are Toggle Lists

Notion's export doesn't cleanly separate a toggle's header from its hidden content into two columns, so a page built with toggle-list flashcards needs manual copying: paste each question into Column A and its answer into Column B of a spreadsheet, then follow the same CSV export and Anki import steps above.

Building flashcards from Notion notes instead?

If you're starting from general Notion notes rather than existing flashcards, see the Notion to StudyCardsAI pipeline for generating an Anki-ready deck directly from your pages, skipping the toggle-list step entirely.

Coming from a different app? See how to convert Quizlet to Anki, exporting Brainscape to Anki, or the full guide to importing any flashcards into Anki.

Skip the Manual Copying

Upload your class notes or a PDF to StudyCards AI and export a ready-made .apkg, no rebuilding toggle lists as spreadsheet rows.
